Autism is a neurodevelopmental
disorder characterized by impaired social interaction, verbal and non-verbal
communication and restricted and repetitive behavior. Autism spectrum disorder
(ASD) is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain.
Causes of Autism
According
to Wikipedia Many causes of autism have been proposed, but understanding
of the theory of causation of autism and the other autism spectrum disorders
(ASD) is incomplete. Research indicates that genetic factors
predominate. The heritability of autism, however, is complex, and it is
typically unclear which genes are responsible. In rare cases, autism
is strongly associated with agents that cause birth defects. Many other causes
have been proposed, such as childhood immunizations, but numerous
epidemiological studies have shown no scientific evidence supporting any link
between vaccinations and autism.
Whether
you’re contemplating pregnancy, are currently pregnant or already have an
infant certain precautions needs to be taken to minimize the risk of autism.
Prior to conception
- Spend some months improving your diet. Eat vegetables, fruits, nuts and lean sources of protein.
- Intending mothers should reduce or eliminate sugar, white bread, pasta and pizza, along with chemical preservatives and other processed foods and also minimize the use of antibiotic before conceiving
- Getting immunized against German measles (rubella) before pregnancy can prevent rubella-associated autism.
- Reduce or eliminate alcohol and caffeine intake, completely eliminate tobacco.
- Begin or continue an exercise routine.
- If you work or live in a toxic environment inform your medical doctor
- Ask your doctor about folic acid. Research suggests that folic acid supplements taken before and during pregnancy reduce the risk of autism.
- Limit your mercury intake by minimizing the consumption of large fish. An animal-based omega-3s is also essential for optimal health.
- Improve indoor air quality in your home or office by opening the windows and creating cross ventilation.
- Test your vitamin D levels, and add additional vitamin D3 if necessary as this will help boosts your immune system, cardio and neurological function.
- Avoid the flu shot and any other vaccine for a year prior to conception.
- Minimize your exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs). Computers, TVs and cell phones emit electromagnetic radiation, so avoid sleeping with these in your bedroom. Use cell phones only when necessary, and keep your phone at a reasonable distance.
